On Saturday, May 25, Main Street buzzed with creativity as the City hosted the second Oakland Park Art Walk (OPAW). This vibrant event, curated in collaboration with the City’s art consultant, William Braemer of Art Fusion Galleries, transformed downtown Oakland Park into a dynamic showcase of local talent.
A Cultural Extravaganza
The May OPAW exceeded expectations, drawing over 450 art enthusiasts who explored a dazzling array of art, live performances, and community offerings. The event featured an impressive lineup of 21 local artists, three live painters, six bars and restaurants, and three retail locations.
Live Painting Dazzles the Crowd
Attendees were captivated by the talented Catarsis, Chuavevo, and Wilmer Gallego's live painting sessions. Their interactive displays added a fresh layer of excitement, turning the event into a living, breathing canvas.
Artists on Display
The art walk highlighted a rich diversity of artistic talents from notable artists, including Jenna Tiedje, Ron Folks, Nick Coltharp, Brittany Johnson, Orel Ferguson, Rob Saunders, Denise Tucker, Priscilla Pena, Dalia Berlin, Paul Margolies, Kevin Bazile, Suhame Miralles, Michael Ferrara, Helier Batista, Kaitlyn O'Neill, Andrew Campbell, Eric D'Marsh, Dennis Carbee, Kseniia Yeromenko, Dawn Biggie, and G. Man productions.
Local Flavor and Unique Finds
Oakland Park’s culinary arts businesses significantly influenced the evening's success. Beans-n-Dough Cookie Company, Black Flamingo Brewery, The Butcher's Barrel, D'Gusta Distributions, Nour Thai Kitchen, and Rebel Wine Bar delighted taste buds with their tasty offerings. Meanwhile, retail participants such as ID Oakland Park, Eat Vegans, and Lobster League Company showcased a range of unique goods and services.
