On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the City of Oakland Park hosted its annual Tree Giveaway at Jaco Pastorius Park, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and neighborhood beautification.
More than 250 residents and business owners participated, receiving 700 free trees and plants to help expand the City’s urban tree canopy and green their properties. The event supports Oakland Park’s long-term goal of enhancing its natural environment while engaging the community in hands-on conservation.
The event’s success was made possible through the efforts of approximately 30 volunteers and City staff, along with support from community partners including the Beautification Advisory Board, the Oakland Park Volunteer Corps, the Urban Farming Institute, Lowe’s, and Florida Power & Light (FPL). These groups provided tree care tips, sustainable planting guidance, and educational resources.
With informative booths and hands-on assistance, Tree Giveaway Day reflected strong collaboration between departments, partners, and residents. It served as a clear example of how local action can contribute to a greener, more vibrant Oakland Park.
Thank you to all who participated and helped make this event a success.
