This prestigious recognition is awarded for the city’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and represents the highest standard in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Oakland Park has now earned this honor for 23 consecutive years, reflecting a long-standing commitment to accuracy, accountability, and clear communication with residents and stakeholders.

The 2024 ACFR was reviewed to ensure it meets GFOA’s rigorous national standards. Reviewers specifically noted the report’s “spirit of full disclosure,” recognizing the city’s efforts to clearly tell its financial story in an accessible, informative, and useful way for the public.

This year’s award was presented to the Accounting Division of the Financial Services Department at the February 4, 2026, City Commission meeting, recognizing the team’s dedicated work in achieving this honor. Their attention to detail and commitment to best practices ensure Oakland Park’s financial information remains reliable, understandable, and responsive to the community’s needs.

Established by GFOA in 1945, the Certificate of Achievement program encourages governments to go beyond minimum accounting requirements by producing reports that reflect transparency and full disclosure.
