To help local students gear up for a successful school year, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) and the city’s Parks and Leisure Services Department teamed up to host a Backpack Giveaway. A total of 106 children, ages 6 to 17, received backpacks filled with essential school supplies.

We are thankful to Heroes Hub for their outstanding generosity in providing backpacks and school supplies to every participant in the City of Oakland Park’s flag football league. Your support is making a lasting difference by helping our student-athletes succeed—both on and off the field.

We also appreciate Mayor Lonergan and the City Commissioners joining us and supporting youth sports.

This event was a true community collaboration, bringing together the City of Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Heroes Hub, and the amazing residents who came out to support our youth. Events like this underscore the vital role youth sports play in developing the leaders of tomorrow.
