Did you know the City of Oakland Park has a thriving Active Adults program? This program, which serves the City’s 55-and-up population, provides a variety of programming to help older Oakland Park residents make new friends and stay active. The City welcomed Active Adult participants to the program's new home at the North Andrews Gardens Community Center in early June. Annual participation in the Active Adults program is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents and is renewable each October. The membership fee covers all costs for the program except field trips and special luncheons.
Monday night floor yoga is also held at North Andrews Gardens Community Center from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. weekly with Val Jennings, an instructor with over 20 years of experience. Yoga is open to the public, and classes are $10 per session.
On Tuesdays, the TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) Club meets from 6 to 8 p.m. TOPS requires a yearly registration of $26 and a monthly fee of $5. Members help each other physically, mentally, and emotionally through weekly check-ins, accountability, and unwavering support in a relaxed and accepting environment.
The NAG community center also offers daily Jazzercise fitness classes to improve health, appearance, fitness, and mobility. Jazzercize is open to the community at a monthly rate. All Oakland Park residents can obtain a free introductory Jazzercize class pass valued at $25 by calling or texting 754-224-8244 by Monday, June 24th, 2024. For each class attended in June or July, participants are entered into a raffle to win a free month of classes.
