Community Meetings
We want to thank everyone who participated in the recent Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park Community Meetings. We appreciate you taking the time to share your ideas for improvements to the park.

The next public meeting will take place on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in person at the Collins Community Center, or on Zoom. 

Public Meeting at Carter Woodson Park 4During the meetings, residents shared some of their priorities for the park, which included:  

  • Adding parking
  • Retaining basketball courts
  • Replacing playground area mulch
  • Adding lighting and cameras to enhance safety
  • Opening bathrooms
  • Adding additional shade cover at the play area
  • Adding exercise stations
  • Protecting green space

Community Survey 
The community conducted a survey regarding potential improvements to Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park.

Next Steps
The City of Oakland Park is working on designs and cost estimates for possible improvements to Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park. They will provide an update during the community meeting on May 11, 2022.
