Building for Resiliency

Environmental conditions and natural disasters, including flooding, sea level rise, and hurricanes, can impact homes, businesses, infrastructure, and landscaping. Incorporating resilient principles into design and construction can protect buildings to make them more resistant to environmental conditions and create a strong community.

The City of Oakland Park is taking steps to adapt and become more resilient to climate change and sea level rise. The City adopted a regional Climate Acti on Plan in partnership with Wilton Manors and joined the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact to build climate resilience in partnership with communities throughout Southeast Florida. The City also conducted an assessment to review vulnerability to sea level rise.
