About Us
The Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library, Inc. was originally established in 1994 as a nonprofit organization with the following objectives:
- To maintain an association of persons interested in our municipal library
- To focus public attention on library issues, services and programs
- To promote the library as a cultural and educational asset of our community
- To sponsor fund raising projects to enhance library services and resources beyond the level funded by the library's budget.
Membership
Libraries need friends too!
Members of the Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library help strengthen and enhance many valuable services and programs offered by our municipal library.
We invite you to become a member today. Please print and fill out the membership form and return it with your tax deductible check made payable to the Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library, 1298 N.E. 37 Street, Oakland Park, FL 33334.
Friends of the Library Application
Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library, Inc. has a tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service under 501(c)(3). Solicitation of Contributions Act Registration Number SC-05670.
Used Book Sales
Used Book Sales are held multiple times a year on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Marie Wright Community Room of the library. Call for more information at (954) 630-4370.
All proceeds are used to enhance facilities and programs not funded through the regular library budget. Recent contributions helped fund new chairs in the Marie Wright Room, an annual subscription to Niche Academy, and USB flash drives and headphones for library patrons.
How to Donate
Friends welcome the donation of hardcover and paperback books, CDS, DVDs, and audio books in good condition. You may bring your donations to the library any day during regular hours and drop them off at the Circulation Desk; go to the back entrance of the library, ring the bell and a staff member will admit you or bring them with you when you attend a Used Book Sale.
Amazon Smile
The Amazon Smile Foundation has now included Friends of the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library on its list of eligible charitable organizations to receive funds from its Foundation whenever you or any of your friends shop on Amazon. This is a creative way to help our library at NO COST TO YOU!
