The Art and Culture Board has 7 voting members appointed by the City Commission, 4 of whom are residents. Members serve terms of 2 years.

Members will be knowledgeable in the field of public or private art, art education, architecture or community affairs, and chosen among the professional categories of:
- Art Education
- Landscape Architecture
- Professional Artists
- Urban Planning
- Act in an advisory capacity in matters pertaining to art and culture programs, including the development of art and culture programs and events for the City.
- Review projects under section 24-56(H) "inclusion of public art for increased density," or section 24-269(G)(4) "additional public art," which includes art as a public amenity.
The authority of the Art and Culture Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 24-169.

The Art & Culture Board is building an Artist Directory for the City of Oakland Park, including resident artists, artists who work or have their art on display or perform in Oakland Park, and venues in Oakland Park. The Art & Culture Board will review submissions monthly.
