40th Annual Waterway Cleanup Saturday March 4

Waterway Cleanup Kayak.jpg

Check-in begins promptly at 9 a.m. Volunteers can check in at the City’s J. Dewey Hawkins Landing boat ramp/kayak launch (2960 NE 12th Terrace south off Oakland Park Blvd.) or Royal Palm Park (south entrance at1701 NW 38th Street/Park Lane West).

Take the family out for a morning kayak or canoe trip in our local waterways and collect unwanted debris during this countywide effort. Volunteers can also walk the shores of waterway parks. You do not need a boat or kayak to help clean up the waterways that make Oakland Park a better place to live and play.

This year’s event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City’s cleanup sites:

  • J. Dewey Hawkins Landing, 2960 NE 12th Terrace
  • Royal Palm Park, 1701 NW 38th Street/Park Lane West

Help clean our Oakland Park waterways and improve wildlife habitats while enjoying a wonderful day outdoors and sharing the gift of nature with others.

To sign up, visit waterwaycleanup.org and select Oakland Park on the registration or call 954-524-2733. There is also a Waterway Cleanup essay contest for high school students and a short story contest for middle school students. Community Service hours are available for volunteers to help satisfy commitments to schools or other organizations.
