Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library, in partnership with the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services and Gale/Cengage, offers adults the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate online through Career Online High School (COHS).

The library’s pilot program provides a limited number of scholarships to qualified adult learners who are looking to advance their careers, and prepare for workforce entry or continue their education. Applicants who successfully complete the online self-assessment, the prerequisite course and an in-person interview will be considered for enrollment.

To be considered,
* You must be 19 or over
* You must be a Broward County resident
* You must have an Ethel M. Gordon library card in good standing
* You must have completed at least one year of high school

If you do not have a library card, don’t worry! Just visit our library to apply for one! Just visit our library webpage to find out what you need to apply for one! Make sure to bring a photo ID and proof of current address!

Once enrolled, Career Online High School pairs each student with an online academic coach, who provides the student with an individual career path, offers ongoing guidance, evaluates performance and connects the student with resources needed to master the courses. A student can complete the program in as little as five months but is given up to 18 months if needed. Participants are expected to spend 8 to 10 hours per week on COHS.
